More than 150 executive orders have been signed by President Trump since he took office. We’re not the only ones tracking them, so we’ve compiled a list of a few resources which review executive orders from different angles.
Akin is a large international law firm and their Trump Executive Order Tracker interprets executive orders through the legal lens. They summarize each executive order, describe their impacts, and offer occasional legal analysis. Their summaries are often short and sweet; for example, their description of the executive order regarding prescription drug prices is approximately a two-minute read. They have an overview as well, which parses each executive order down to a single paragraph-long description. If you’re looking for somewhere to find a quick understanding of executive orders as they’re published, Akin is a good way to go.
The Center for Progressive Reform’s Project 2025 Executive Action Tracker spreadsheet is tracking the implementation of Project 2025 through executive orders and other actions. It lists proposals from the right-wing handbook sorted by government department and details their correspondences, if any exist, to executive actions Trump has completed, attempted, or proposed. The top sheet even includes a counter which they update occasionally to indicate how much of Project 2025 has been implemented so far (28% as of April 15). 47 Watch is a blog that tracks Trump’s policies, executive orders, and litigations for analysis and explanations. They also provide access to primary source documents and White House press releases, though they do present an anti-Trump perspective. The semi-weekly updates on their blog provide summaries of the major changes happening in the federal government, including by executive orders. Most recently, they wrote about weeks 14 and 15 of the administration, including executive orders on education, immigration, and a build-up towards the Trump Administration using the military against U.S. citizens by invoking the Insurrection Act.
National Council on Nonprofits’s Impacts of the Recent Executive Orders on Nonprofits provides information on the effect of executive orders on nonprofits and their missions as a chart which is sorted into several topic categories ranging from DEI, to the environment, to civic engagement. Each order listed includes a description of the effects on nonprofits and the status of the order, including litigations.
We’ll have more lists of resources in a future update.
One way you can track multiple sources in one place is through an RSS reader app. Many of the resources listed above support RSS feeds, which is a good way to take full control over the information you’re absorbing at any given time. Here is a link to a tutorial from a frequent RSS user.
